Christmas Ocean Clean up
Christmas is the time of giving. Which is why we have decided to do something good for the enivronment this year. Instead of giving presents in 2019 we are supporting the environmental organisation One Earth – One Ocean e.V. (OEOO) with a donation.
The approach of the “Maritime Garbage Disposal” of the organisation One Earth – One Ocean e.V. to free waters worldwide from plastic waste, oil and chemicals has convinced us especially during the current environmental debate. We are friends of doing good and protecting our environment from unnecessary pollution. Therefore we will support this organisation with a donation this year.
Every year more than 10 million tons of waste are released into the world’s oceans and up to 80 percent of it comes from land – about three quarters of the waste being plastic. Already today there are more than 150 million tons of plastic waste in the oceans worldwide. So it is high time to do something about it, because plastic not only pollutes the world’s oceans, but ultimately also enters our food chain as microplastics through the food intake of fish. In this way it harms not only the oceans, but also us humans.
The environmental organisation One Earth – One Ocean e.V. has set itself the goal of ridding waters worldwide of plastic waste (but also oil and chemicals) with its concept of “maritime waste disposal” using specially designed waste collection ships.
Maybe for some people this might be a drop in the ocean – but not for us – we want to support and actively do something for a clean environment. You too can do something tangible against plastic waste – you can find all information at https://oneearth-oneocean.com/.
